Target Audience

I interviewed A 17 year old girl, to see what opinions she had on my genre of music video and asked her a few questions in order to gain a general idea of what my target audience would expect to see in my music video. this is seen on my youtube channel:

Learning how to use photoshop

In order to become more familiar with photoshop i undertook a tutorial. This was a step by step tutorial that helped me play around with photoshop and learn a lot of it's effects. At first i found the programme rathe hard to use as i was unfamiliar with the layout and tools, however, once i had completed the tutorial i felt a lot more comfortable with the programme, and when i come to use it when it comes to creating my digi pack/poster/ music video i believe i will be able to use it to it's best use.

below are a few screenshots of my journey through the tutorial:

Time Management

When working towards your planning and research and construction it's really hard to make sure you get everything completed on time. This is why i created myself an ical in order to outline my tasks every lesson and if i was running behind or working faster then expected i'd know what work needed to be done and could either catch up or work ahead. This is useful as it means no time is wasted and i can work more efficiently within the time available to me. Here are a few photos of the tasks i set myself out to do daily:

Film Planning

Taylor Swift Cold As You Lyrics:

You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'
And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
No use defending words that you will never say

And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there lovin' you and washed them all away
And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you
[- From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/taylor-swift-lyrics/cold-as-you-lyrics.html -]

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
No use defending words that you will never say

And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You never did give a damn thing, honey
But I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody
If I died, died for you, died for you

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending give to a perfect day
Every smile you fake is so condescending
Counted all the scars you made

Now that I'm sittin her thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

Ideas from Research

I liked the use f location in this shot and have decided that i am going to use a street as a location in my music video. I have decided that Gorey would be a good place to shoot this as, it has a road running through it however, also has a slip way leading onto the beach where there are a few boats. This means i could shoot frames from different bits in Gorey that will look like completely different locations however, very close together so it will be easy managing equipment.

Also if i were to shoot the frames at night time like the lady Gaga one above^ the lighting at Gorey looks really nice and would look great in my music video, heres a picture of Gorey at night:

indesign

These are mock-ups of digi packs i designed on indesign. I screen grabbed the process below, and made four different packs. This helped me gain an understanding of the program indesign which means that when i create my own digi pack with pictures of my artist, i will have more understanding on how to use the programme and know better effects.

From my research and planning of digi packs, i really liked the effect where the writing was bordered around the edge of the cd. I have tried this out myself to see what it would look like.

I used pictures from the same photo booth to create the top right image. I used four different photos and merged them together on indesign. This helped me learn about resizing and measurements. Also to make the digi pack look more professional i copied a barcode onto the back of it. I also chose a copy right company and took information from my research analysis to put extra writing on the CD to make it look professional.

Miley Cyrus - Breakout

Selena Gomez - Kiss and Tell

 Britney Spears - Blackout

Digi Packs

taylor swift - fearless CD
I like the fornt cover of this didgipack as it is a simple picture. The way the artist has posed with her hair filling up most of the frame is a simple and easy task to complete yet really effective. The writing is clear and the font of 'Taylor Swift' goes very well with the genre of music. I can definatley take soem tips from this when designing my own digipack.
I really like how the writing curves around the edge of the CD. For legal and agreement terms, certain things must be written on the CD that could effect the style yet by putting it around the edge of the CD it has taken up less room and looks really nice. The heart shaped hands on the CD are really effective, this hand image is something the artist always does, and signifies her. By putting it on the CD i think it looks really good and the colour contrasts work really well together. I also like how the font for the front cover of the digipack and the the font on the CD are the same. It makes the digipack look profession and is a good technique to use.

Duffy - Rockferry album
I really like the colour contrasts in this digipacks. The balck and White theme goes really well with the genre and looks extremely professional. It's such simple effect but looks great.
I like how simple they have kept the back of the digipack. I would normally presume there to be a lot of pictures and images to fill the frame but here they have used a solid black background. This is also seen on the CD cover below. It makes the white writing stand out a lot more and gives the digipack a unique style.
