4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

I used facebook; a social networking site in my planning stage in order to communicate with my actress about plans of when/where we were filming. I used it in my construction stage in order to post small clips and gather feedback/ constructive criticism on hwo i coulod improve my work and know whats good about it. I then used it in my evaluation stage in order to post my final video online and gain feedback on the end result.

I used the site called youtube in my planning stage to veiw other music videos and gain mroe knowledge and ideas on what makes a good music video. Also i used it to pick up techniques and skills that are used in professiojnal music videos to then try and replicate it in my own music video. I used the site during my construction stage in order to upload small clips of practise filming, to gain feedback from other youtube accounts and also to practise for when i was to upload my final music video. When evaluating my video i posted it on youtube so that everyone could see and give me more feedback.

I used twitter throughout all stages in order to communicate with my teacher and other class mates about deadlines and also events. It was really useful as you could post quickly and easily and everyone could see it clearer.
I used final cut pro in my construction of the music video. This technology allowed me all the tools needed to edit and put together the video. I was able to render files and fit then correctly in the right place; lip sync. Also the technology helped aid me when slowing down clips or changing lighting.

I used imovie in my construction to create my animatic and storyboard. It was useful because there was a lot of special effects and i could use cut, burn and render to zoom in on the pictures that would replicate the camera movement. I also then used it in my evaluation because i could input a voice over so i could explain why i did certain thigns clearly and also was a different way to evaluate, rather than a script.

Blogger was sued throughout all stages to present my work. It is easily accecable at home and during school time. It allowed em to edit my posts whenether, and taught me how to use technology at a faster pace and also gain mroe understanding.

I used google as my search engine. This allowed me in my construction as i looked for logos on my digi packs and poster. It allowed me to access any information required as well as an images.
This was used for an online survey. This was much more technological than a hand written survey as it was more accessable by the public. It also was really convienient when analyzing the results as i was able to put them into graphs which emant they were displayed clearly.
Photoshop was another programme used in order to assist indesign. This was used in construction when creating my digi pacjks and poster as i was able to get rid of backgrounds, change colours etc.
This was sued as time management which helped assist me to keep organised and make sure i got everything completed by the right time so that i did not fall behind. I could personalise the calender to suit me and also was a good programme to sue as it was quick and easy to access.

Overall i used a variety of different media technologies to aid me throught the whole stage of my coursework.

Evaluation3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

As a part of my Planning stage i created a survey using www.surveymonkey.com. The programme allowed me to create specific questions that i could ask my target audience on what they would expect to see in my genre of music video. The questions ranged from props and costumes to locations and artists. The feedback helped me learn and understand the area i was working in and aim my music video at it's correct genre.

As well as survey monkey, i received class feedback on my story boards. I showed my animatic to approximately eighteen classmates to receive there feedback on area's that they liked and area's of improvement. This allowed me to have a full understanding of what i needed to include when shooting my music video and gave me some clear guidelines that i could follow.

I also received feedback on my final film via Facebook. This was a really good site to use as i had more contacts and could publicly display my video to a wider audience. The feedback i received is displayed below:
Another place where i received feedback was on youtube. I uploaded my final music video to youtube and those with youtube accounts were free to comment and express their views.
As seen here:

I found the process of gaining feedback from others extremely useful and allowed me to improve in many area's. It allowed me to learn more about the expectations of others and allowed to to suit my music video to it's correct genre.

Creating my cd booklet

i created my booklet for my CD on indesign. It was just an extra piece to the digipack that includes lyrics of songs that feature in the digipack. I took my actress on a photo shoot to create slightly different pictures than using the same location as where i filmed. This makes the album more interesting, however, i still managed to stick to the same theme. Here's a few screen shots of my stages through making the leaflet:

MY FINISHED BOOKLET:

i used the same font as seen on the CD in order to fit everything together well, i just changed the writing colour to white.

Ancillary Task

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Gn3zhreJ13U
Before i shot my music video, a few class mates and i, worked together in roder to make a short practice music video. Thsi enabled us to practise using the cameras, shots, etc. We then worked together to edit the video on final cut pro and used special 'text' affects to fit the genre of the video. This was really useful as it taught me a lot fo skills that i could then use in my music video.

photoshop

i used photoshop here to get rid of the white backgrounds of the logo's. This was really useful as it looked a lot bette ron my digi pack and poster without a white square background.

creating my poster on photoshop

When choosing the picture for the psoter i needed something that really stood out and drew a lot of attention to the poster. I also needed something where not too much was happening in the frame as i didn't want the picture itself to draw away from the information on the poster, as overall, the CD being on sale at HMV was the most important thing for the veiwers to see. I used a depth of field lens on the camera to that the artists face was in focus and the rest of her body was blurred out. I belive this was a good effect and works well with the poster. Here is a screen shot of when i was creating my psote ron indesign:

and here is a screen shot of the psoter being finally finished:
To make it look really professional i used the same font as HMV use in all of there advertising posters. I also used an official HMV logo and the slogan 'HMV get closer' really makes it look realistic. I have included the terms and conditions at the very bottom of the poster in small print and stated a price and an offer for delivery. these small effects is what makes the poster more professional and attractive. i have also included a photo of the cover of the CD, which is good advertising as it shows the viewer what to look for in the store.

Construction - Editing my music video on final cut pro

i used final cut pro to create my music video. This aloud me precise editing and was a really good programme to get the professional look i was after.

Creating my digipack

Here are a few photos i took whilst creating my digipack:
The process included a lot of work using photoshop, iphoto, and a lot of time when choosing the perfect font from the internet and downloading them. I created my own swatch on indesign to create the perfect colour for the album name 'Fearless' and tried to match it slightly the the 'H' on the actresses top, so that the colour schemes in the digipack fitted together really well. When it came to the CD, i had to do this on a separate page of indesign and import it into the digipack afterwards. I used professional recording studio logos on my CD and arched the terms and conditions on the edge of the CD in order to include the necessary information but still make the CD pleasant to look at. i included the same information on the CD as on the back cover of the digipack, including barcode to give a more professional effect.

THE FINISHED DIGIPACK:

Communication

When filming a music video communication is vital. I needed to be organised and be able to notify my actress easily if more filming was needed. In order to do this i set up a private group on facebook which is used frequently by me and my actress, in order to communicate with her and decide on dates etc.

I also used it to update pictures and video shots of things i would like her to practice or even to update her on small clips of the video so far. This kept her interacted and was also good to have her feedback.

Location shots

these are some photos of my location. There are shots of the bedroom that i am going to film in and the beach nd car. These are the most important locations in my music video.

Animatic

I created my animatic on imovie where i cropped and adjusted pictures into a movie. there is a link to it on my youtube below:

Feedback:

Hermione- I think the beginning should build up more, perhaps with some location shots. I like the close ups of the guitar. Nice variety of shots and locations. I think it could do with more close ups of the artists singing and a more coherent plot line.

Megan- Nice location and close ups. More of both would be good.

Josie- Didn't like the town shots.

Ruby- More detail of plot.
