This is a long shot. i really like how the shot/ and beginning of the video is in black and white. i presume that this little girl is the younger version of the artist 'Rihanna.' This is a good technique as it brings a story to the music video, this means that the viewers are more likely to be more interested in the video and lyrics.
This is an establishing shot. it's from a distance so the viewers can take in the background and have more of a sense of location. The black and white affect goes really well with the scenery as it exaggerates the fact that its winter and gives a dim and dull atmosphere which is great as in the next shot it's such a contrast. it goes from one extreme to another which really uplifts the music video.
i like this shot because of the lighting. the director has created a silhouette of the artist, with the use of a colourful light. This has a good effect in the music video because the viewers really focus on the outline of the body and the actions. Also as the title is 'all of the lights' the lighting is pretty important in the music video and the viewer can see they've exaggerated this by using a lot of different coloured lights.
I really loved this close-up shot in the music video as there was really fast editing cutting from this frame, to another one which is just below ↓. also as you can faintly see from the picture the frame was fading in the way you could see the one below and this frame on top of each other like a two layers however, this frame was almost transparent. This is a really good effect and if i could include this in my music video i believe it would give it a professional effect.
i liked this long shot as, (from the description above) you can see how it was introduced with quick editing which gave a great effect. i also like the use of props in the shot, as the artist is standing on top of a police car which has really bright lights. it's an original idea and works really well with the video.
this is an extreme close-up which i liked because of it's a focus on the artist singing, however, the lighting on her face is flashing and changes colour really quickly. It also had the same editing effect as the two shots above. This goes well with the effect of the flashing lights as well.
This shot is a mixture of shots that was taken at different distances but they fade in and out of each other. it's effect is that it makes what could be one simple frame more interesting as the artist is still carrying out the same actions but shows different angles of it. i also found it interesting that the artist had his back to the camera and that the viewer got a side portfolio of his face, it makes the actions of the video and movements differ from other music videos and also keeps a good variety of angles in the video.
I really at the end of the music video. They've done it on special effects where the screen looks as if it's just been switched off, like on a television. this is a good idea as it's original and unique and lets the music video have a more memorable ending.
